A number of you have questioned certain ommissions from our Muppet awards and I will use todays missive to announce some runner ups.
Brewin Dolphin and Aderdeen Asset Management- were put forward vigorously by Potter but as I had to point out they took a load of fees and paid themselves huge bonusese so who's the Muppet, though their pitiful excuses that they didn't realise that increasing leverage increases risk defies belief. How is it that the FSA hasn't removed authorisation from some of these people?
We had a number of nominations for spreadbet firms. I personally think that Cantor Index deserve an honourable mention for sponsoring Audley Harrison to an "alleged" tune of £1 million or perhaps this is a "forgiveable loan". ( more like unforgiveable sponsorship-Potter). We had a number of nominations for a certain head of trading at CMC, mostly from members of his staff, but I have decided that we need to be nice to minorities, even if they are canadian.
A certain banker from Morgan Stanley also deserves a mention Earlier this year he bought a flat from a chum of mine. A number of people were interested at the asking price and it duly went to sealed bids. The MS banker got the property with a bid 75K above the asking price. He was the only person to bid and it is safe to say bought above the top of the market. I feel that warm glow of schadenfreude.
Labour MP Geoffrey Robinson has made a late surge after being stopped for erratic driving. Police found a "white powdered substance" on searching the vehicle. I feel this adequately explains the former ministers views on why we should join the euro.
