My God its cold. I can hardly think due to the clanging of brass monkeys losing their all. The noises emanating from the market are hardly helping but at least we have CNBC Europe to keep us amused. Why is it that the US version can find presenters who are witty and ironic whereas the european version is staffed by muppets?
There is not a great deal to report about the markets. The dollar is slightly weaker though hardly by an amount to get excited about. Cable and Wireless continues to get tanked and I find it astounding that the Chief Executive hasn't yet resigned. Perhaps he realises he has 2 hopes of getting another job. Bob Hope and no hope! Not disclosing the terms of their deal with DT to investors is stupid at best and criminal at worst. I will be surprised if he lasts the week. In fact considering the "chrimbo" parties I have I will be surprised if I last the week.
I like Christmas and I also like being able to say Christmas. This is no small thing as in America one has to say " Happy Holidays " as referring to the christian faith is deemed politically incorrect and might offend those of other religions. The fact that it is a pagan festival and that the US is about to blow the hell out of the Middle East has largely been ignored due to the fact that the new series of Friends is currently being broadcast on Fox.
I was amused to see on television this morning the new German ambassador complaining that in our schools we do not teach our children anything about modern German History but only cover the Second World War. In an attempt to redress the balance I will myself list the things that Germany has contributed to the world over the last 57 years:
